Silver Jubilee Year  2013

SIES College of Commerce and Economics celebrated its Silver Jubilee year on July 29th 2013 and the function was inaugurated by the former President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. The theme for the year was “Scaling New Peaks”. The highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of:

  • A team of seven students from Lawrence School, Sanawar, for being the youngest school team to climb the Mt. Everest.
  • Ms. Arunima Sinha, the first woman amputee to climb Mt. Everest
  • Dr. Murad Lala, the first medical doctor to climb Mt. Everest
  • Mr. Hiralal Yadav, for pedaling across India thirteen times, covering the distance of 80,000 kilometers, on a bicycle without seat to promote National Integrity.
Other special features of the year were:
  • Two faculty members Mr. Prasanna Tambe and Mr. Chandrashekar Sawant led 41 students in a 8 day National Himalayan Trekking Expedition organized by YHAF.
  • MoU was signed with Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt. Ltd. for Toyota Sales Education Foundation Program, the first of a kind in Maharashtra. Vice-Principal Dr. Nina Roy Choudhury and Ms. Kalavani Venkatraman were chosen as trainers to train the students on ongoing basis for placement at Toyota.
  • Ms. Rukhsar Surve secured 1st rank in the University at the TYBCom(A&F) examination.
